The ministry’s spokesman, Maria Zakharova, said they pose a direct threat to the existing moratorium.
MOSCOU, 24 September /TASS/. The order given by US President Donald Trump to begin preparations for nuclear testing poses a direct threat to the moratorium on this issue. This was said by the spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the opening for signature of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
” Recent announcements from Washington are particularly alarming. The order given by US President Donald Trump on 29 October 2025 to start preparations for nuclear testing is not vain words, but a direct threat against the moratorium that prevents the world from simmering in a new nuclear arms race,” stressed the diplomat. “American attempts to accuse other countries of actions allegedly incompatible with the Treaty seem totally unfounded. As we know, when such statements come from Washington, it means that the Americans intend to evade their international obligations once again. ยป
